Kalayaan Filipino Festival is a commemoration and celebration of the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the Philippine
Republic from the colonisation that ruled the archipelago for 333 years.
The historical 12th of June in 1898 was an inspiring celebration, which also featured the first public playing of the Philippines
national anthem.
Our goal is to promote a sense of pride in our heritage and celebrate our collective identity as a Filipino, create cultural awareness
among the diverse Filipino national and ethnic groups, and create a space for Filipino-Australians to gather and celebrate as one.
We want to highlight the many positive contributions and the importance of community and to have a safe and supportive community that Filipinos can be part of here in South Australia, whether a new arrival or not.

Like the spirit of bayanihan, we can make great things if we work together.
To make Kalayaan 2023 possible, we are looking for volunteers, sponsors and stallholders to take part.
This is our community, and we want to get things done as best as we can.
